GPA Calculator

Calculate your weighted grade point average from course credits and grade points.

How Does This Calculator Work?

Weighted GPA is calculated by multiplying each course's credit hours by its grade points (A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0.0, with +/- variants in between), summing those products, and dividing by the total credit hours.

Enter the credit hours and grade points (on a standard 4.0 scale) for up to four courses to calculate your semester GPA, weighted by credit hours.

Example Calculation

Semester Example

Course 1: 3 credits, 4.0 GPA. Course 2: 3 credits, 3.0 GPA. Course 3: 4 credits, 3.7 GPA.

((3×4.0)+(3×3.0)+(4×3.7))/(3+3+4) ≈ 3.59 GPA.

Tips

If you're taking fewer than 4 courses, enter 0 credits for any unused course slots so they don't affect your average.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grade points correspond to each letter grade?

A common 4.0 scale is: A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, B-=2.7, C+=2.3, C=2.0, C-=1.7, D=1.0, F=0.0. Your school may use a slightly different scale.

What if I have more than 4 courses?

Calculate this semester in two batches of up to 4 courses, then combine the totals manually: multiply each batch's GPA by its total credits, add both together, and divide by your combined total credits.
