Work Hours Calculator

Calculate hours worked between a start time and an end time, including overnight shifts.

How Does This Calculator Work?

The calculator converts both times to minutes since midnight and finds the difference. If the end time is earlier than the start time, it assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds 24 hours automatically.

Figure out exactly how many hours (and decimal hours, for payroll purposes) you worked between a clock-in and clock-out time — including shifts that cross midnight.

Tips

For payroll, the decimal hours figure (e.g. 7.50 instead of 7h 30m) is usually what you need to enter into timesheet software.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this handle overnight shifts?

Yes — if your end time is earlier than your start time (e.g. 22:00 to 06:00), the calculator automatically assumes the shift continued past midnight.

Does this subtract unpaid breaks?

No — enter your raw clock-in and clock-out times, then subtract any unpaid break time from the result yourself.
